SCULPTURE Class Information
In the sculpture classes students will be working with different types of clay to create a number of creative art pieces. Sculpting is a great way to explore creativity while teaching the eye how to interpret 3 dimensional shapes and understand scale & proportion. The student will develop coordination, and build up confidence while enjoying a fun process!
Sculpture classes are a separate class than our core curriculum. You can take sculpture art with both or one of our other classes, such as digital art or core art at different class times and receive a discount for the second and third classes.
Sculpture for ages 6-9
For ages 6 to 9 years old, students will be focusing on projects that are achievable, accessible, and fun! Students will develop their hand-eye coordination and motor control skills with a series of creative projects. For this age group we will be working with clay, as well as exploring with other materials to encourage students to be fearless and think “outside of the box!”

Sculpture for ages 10+
For the older students (ages 10-14) the focus is on creativity and technical skills, as well as developing a vocabulary about sculpture. The project length is longer, and students will focus on different techniques for making spectacular clay sculptures on a larger scale. Students will build skills in sculpture that can be used to develop a portfolio for College Admissions or AP 3D Art and Design in the future.

AP 3D Art and Design/College portfolio
The 3D AP Art and Design curriculum focuses on students’ experimentation, process, and material usage. The students will use the skills developed in previous classes and can combine physical sculpting techniques, and 3D Modeling in order to develop their portfolios. Students can use the portfolios to obtain college credit, apply for art competitions, and use them for supplemental portfolios for college applications.
Please note: The sign up for AP 3D Art and Design is a separate form, linked below.

3D Modeling
For ages 9 and up: In this class, students will explore the digital 3D world of art and design! Using the NOMAD SCULPT app, an Apple software that has industry-standard tools while keeping it accessible and fun to learn.
This app is a great way to get started with the modeling world, getting acquainted with the 3D work-flow and tools. Opening the doors to all 3D software that students might want to explore in the future.
Students will be able to create their own designs for both organic and hard surface shapes. Guided by our great 3D instructor, they will also explore coloring, adding materials, lighting and rendering, all in one software!
All that is required is an iPad, Apple Pencil and the purchase of the app NOMAD SCULPT.
