SCULPTURE Class Information
In the sculpture classes students will be working with different types of clay to create a number of creative art pieces. Sculpting is a great way to explore creativity while teaching the eye how to interpret 3 dimensional shapes and understand scale & proportion. The student will develop coordination, and build up confidence while enjoying a fun process!
Sculpture classes are a separate class than our core curriculum. You can take sculpture art with both or one of our other classes, such as digital art or core art at different class times and receive a discount for the second and third classes.
Sculpture for ages 4-6
For ages 4-6, students develop their basic motor control skills, hand-eye coordination, working methodically in an hour long class in small groups. For this age group we work with clay and encourage students to create sculptures that are accessible and fun!
Sculpture for ages 6-9
For ages 6 to 9 years old, students will be focusing on projects that are achievable, accessible, and fun! Students will develop their hand-eye coordination and motor control skills with a series of creative projects. For this age group we will be working with clay, as well as exploring with other materials to encourage students to be fearless and think “outside of the box!”

For the older students (ages 10-14) the focus is on creativity and technical skills, as well as developing a vocabulary about sculpture. The project length is longer, and students will focus on different techniques for making spectacular clay sculptures on a larger scale. Students will build skills in sculpture that can be used for future supplemental portfolios or art competitions.
