Timeline & RULES

  • Sunday 10 December 11:59pm:  Submit your idea HERE.  Team can consist of 2 - 4 members.
  • Monday 11 December:  Selected teams are notified (maximum 4 teams chosen to compete).  Selected teams will be given a budget of 150,000 MMK to purchase materials and equipment for their solutions.
  • Wednesday 13 December:  Deadline for teams to submit parts list to Maker360.
  • Friday 15 December @15:00:  Submit receipts for all the parts bought to Maker360.
  • Monday 18 & Tuesday 19 December:  3D printing @Phandeeyar
  • Thursday 21 & Friday 22 December:  Hackathon Days assembly and test starts from 9am Thursday.  Activity challenges begin no later that Friday noon.  Winners announced by 3pm on Friday.
    • 1st place team will share 400,000 MMK prize money!
    • 2nd place team will share 200,000 MMK prize money!
    • To qualify for cash prize, a team
      • cannot have any 0 score in any round
      • must have at least 1 score of 4
      • must have total score of at least 11

Maker360, Hongyun Art, and other Silicon Valley Partners are working together to find the brightest and most creative team in Myanmar!

The Challenge

We are looking for the best idea and design to store and retrieve items in an automated process.  Successful projects will focus on:

  • Efficiency

    • Storage / load-in

    • Retrieval / picking

  • Relatively simple with low number of components and reduced cost

  • Reliable & accurate

  • Smart (most commonly requested items are retrieved quickly)

  • Fastest to complete operations

Hackathon goals & SCORING

Activity 1: Automated load-in

  1. Each team will be given 20 items to load into their storage space.

  2. Each item is an approximately 1.5x1.5x2 (inches) wooden cube with a white sticker printed with a barcode on 1 side.  Note: the items will NOT be exactly uniform size but will be approximately the specified size.  There will be 16 unique barcodes.

  3. Scoring criteria:

    • 0 points for complete failure (less than 10% loaded in autonomously)

    • 1 point for 10% - 50% completed autonomously (human can intervene for up to 50% of the cases)

    • 2 points for 51%-90% completed autonomously

    • 3 points for fully automated completion

    • 4 points for fully automated completion and fastest time

ACTIVITY 2: Single item retrieval

  1. You will be given a barcode to retrieve an item from your storage

  2. This will occur 3 times

  3. Scoring criteria:

    • 0 points for complete failure

    • 1 point for1 out of 3 successful fully autonomous retrievals

    • 2 points for 2 out of 3 successful fully autonomous retrievals

    • 3 points for 3 out of 3 successful fully autonomous retrievals

    • 4 points for 3 out of 3 successful fully autonomous retrievals and fastest time

Activity 3: Multi-item retrieval

  1. You will be asked to retrieve a random number (maximum 5) of items.  

  2. You will need to repeat this this 3 times with different sets of items to retrieve.

  3. Scoring criteria:

    • 0 points for complete failure

    • 1 point for1 out of 3 successful fully autonomous set retrievals

    • 2 points for 2 out of 3 successful fully autonomous set retrievals

    • 3 points for 3 out of 3 successful fully autonomous set retrievals

    • 4 points for 3 out of 3 successful fully autonomous set retrievals and fastest time

Activity 4: Reliability test

  1. We will test the replenishment scenario - this is a stress test of the system

    1. You be asked need to retrieve and load-in in random order (at least 5 operations per iteration)

    2. Example iteration

      1. Operation 1:  Load in all items

      2. Operation 2:  Retrieve 2 items

      3. Operation 3:  Retrieve 1 item

      4. Operation 4:  Load in 5 new items

      5. Operation 5:  Retrieve 4 items (combination of previous and new load in)

    3. Each iteration will be different and will not be disclosed before hand.

    4. Scoring criteria:

      • 0 points for complete failure

      • 1 point for1 successful fully autonomous iteration

      • 2 points for 2 successful fully autonomous iterations

      • 3 points for 3 successful fully autonomous iterations

      • 4 points for most successful fully autonomous iterations in 15 minutes
